Friday Prayer: The Last TIme You Sang To Me

July 21, 2016 9:40 PM by Dan

“I can’t stand your religious meetings.
I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects,
    your pretentious slogans and goals.
I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.
I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
    I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
    That’s what I want. That’s all I want.              Amos 5:21-24(Msg)

We do want to sing to You today Lord. No ceremony. No slogans. No projects. No fund raising schemes. We simply want to come before You and love You with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength. We search our heart today Lord and dig deeper to clean house and find a place where You can dwell. Give us a pure heart. Genuine in our faith for You. Help us to sing Your song all the day long and know You are listening.

Friday Prayer: Radical Life Change

July 14, 2016 10:03 PM by Dan

You didn’t think, did you, that just by pointing your finger at others you would distract God from seeing all your misdoings and from coming down on you hard? Or did you think that because he’s such a nice God, he’d let you off the hook? Better think this one through from the beginning. God is kind, but he’s not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change

                                                                                                                                 Romans 2:3-4

Lord, I pray today that I would become more transparent. That I would be able confess my sins and repent and get closer to You than ever before. That I would give up pointing fingers. That I would hear Your voice through reading the scriptures and understand that You are calling me to a life of love, kindness, goodness, gentleness and faithfulness.  We praise You today for Your goodness to us as a Father. That You are willing to discipline Your children.  Help us to hear Your voice Lord.  Help us to truly continue to have a radical life-change. Let us not be satisfied with yesterday. Help us to look forward to the new changes You are making in us, the new things that you are teaching us.

Pray to Our God

July 12, 2016 11:05 PM by Diane

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray. Psalm 5:1-2.

Dear Lord, Only to You will we lift up our prayers. You are the one true God and the center of our worship and adoration. Thank you for allowing us to communicate in this way. You are not far off and indifferent as some think. You listen, understand, care, and know what is best for us in all circumstances.  Let us never take You and prayer for granted. Help us to pray without ceasing. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Public Prayer

July 7, 2016 9:51 PM by Dan

When our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, escorted us until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another. Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home again.                                                                               Acts 21:5-6

We are thankful Lord for your Word. Paul's journeys in Acts demonstrate a love for others and a love for You. Even as a group in the great outdoors, they knelt together on the beach and prayed. Help us to have strength in the demonstration of our belief in You dear Lord. Give us courage and strength in character to live out what we believe. We pray for our Willamette Valley and those who work directly with large portions of the public. Help them to be a continual witness of Your love and truth. Help them to be courageous to thoroughly demonstrate their faith in loving others and loving You in their outfacing position of public service.

Friday Prayer: Forgiveness

June 30, 2016 10:10 PM by Dan

For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.”  Luke 7:47

Thank you for your forgiveness. We sing and dance and take pure joy in the freedom You have given us. We are free from the chains of sin and shame. We are no longer fearful as we have given our lives into Your protection and Your peace.  Today we pray for those who are bound by unrepentant hearts. We pray for their freedom, their willingness to confess their sin to you and change their ways.

Friday Prayer: The Strength of My Heart

June 16, 2016 10:18 PM by Dan

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For, behold, those who are far from You will perish; You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You. But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.

                                                                           Psalm 73:25-28

Lord, you love us through the hard times. You are there to care for all who call on You. For those who cry out. And in Your answer, You have developed a strength and an assurance and a confidence within us.  You have strengthened our hearts and we are so thankful. Help us to rely on You more and more, each and every day of our lives. Give us vision and understanding of Your working within us. You are our refuge, our shelter. Help us to break away from the things that confine us and let us walk in freedom with You.

Keep Asking

June 12, 2016 12:21 AM by Diane

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7: 7-8.

Dear God, You want us to come to You no matter what the situation may be. We can come to You 24/7. You are always available and never take a vacation. We can ask for help regarding a situation or a need. We are not to be independent or hesitant. If we are seeking wisdom or understanding You are an expert on everything. If a door seems closed and we cannot enter, You will make a way through. What an awesome God we serve. Help us to humbly come before You and not hold back no matter what we are facing. Lord, we lift up grateful hearts in praise and adoration. Amen.

Friday Prayer: No Law Required

June 9, 2016 9:58 PM by Dan

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.                                                                                         Galatians 5:22-23

Thank you for the truth of the Bible dear Lord. The fruit of the Spirit brings such absolute perfect order that there is no need for law when the Spirit is present. We want to live in this way Lord Jesus. Help our families, neighborhoods, cities and state to draw close to the Spirit of God. Thank you for being available to us dear Spirit. Guide and direct our lives.  Bring Your perfect peace.

Friday Prayer: Righteous Be Glad

June 2, 2016 10:50 PM by Dan

But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God;
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.
Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts,
Whose name is the Lord, and exult before Him.

father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.
God makes a home for the lonely;
He leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

                                            Psalm 68:3-6

Lord, Your love for us are told by David in the Psalms over and over. You teach us to choose righteousness and not rebellion. And in doing this we see your favor, even prisoners are led out into prosperity.  Thank you for your love for us Lord. Thank you for caring for and hearing the prayer of the widow and the orphan. For hearing the prayer of the saint and the repentant sinner.  Help us to write songs that honor You dear Lord.

Friday Prayer: Safety

May 26, 2016 9:26 PM by Diane

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8.

Dear God, When we read the paper or look at news on the internet, it can seem as if our world is spinning out of control. We can get upset, anxious, angry or depressed. However, You taught us to keep our focus on You. We read the end of the Bible and we know that You win. We trust You Lord to take care of us and the world around us. It will not always be easy but we know Who we serve. Thank you that You are always awake and faithful to Your promises. Therefore, we can lie down in the peace that passes understanding and sleep. Amen.
